If the certifying doctor is unable to determine the cause of Death, or the Death has been the result of or has been contributed by an unnatural cause (e.g. surgical complication, suicide, accident, etc.). The Death will be classified as a Coroner’s case. Then, the Coroner will review the case and determine if an autopsy is required. All autopsies are performed at Singapore General Hospital.

Death outside Singapore

Usually, a Death Certificate issued by the country where the death occur, will have to be obtained. However, the death procedures will be subjected to the law and practices of the country concerned. As each country has different law and practices, it is advisable that you call Peace Casket (Tel: 63964555) who will guide you through the entire process. In most cases, the Singapore Embassy/Representative Office in that country will assist in the repatriation process and issue the relevant documents. A Consignor (usually a Funeral Service Provider in the country concerned) should be appointed to make the repatriation arrangements. Peace Casket will be the Consignee in Singapore to receive the remains and to provide all the subsequent arrangements and services.

Cremation is the process by which the Deceased’s body is exposed to extreme heat (1800 to 2000 degree Fahrenheit) for 2 hours. Through this process, the body is reduced to bone fragment (or ashes), to be collected by family members for its final resting place. Cremation fee for adult is $100, and for child under 10 years old is $50.

The burial period for all graves will be limited to 15 years. They are categorized by different religions, except the lawn cemetery where Deceased of any religious faith can be buried there. Burial fee for adult is $940, and for child under 10 years old is $420.
